Special Enrollment Periods

Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) occur when a life event happens that triggers an opportunity to change your insurance coverage outside the Open Enrollment period in the fall.
1. Loss of coverage – see notes below
2. Marriage or Divorce
3. Birth or adoption of a child
4. Move out of or into a new coverage area
5. Death.
6. Marriage

We are helping many people that have lost their health insurance benefits as a result of a reduction in hours, lay off, or termination from their jobs. They have several options to consider. Please share this information with people you know who are in this situation. Our agents will help them understand what choices they have so that they can make the best decision for their family. A SEP allows 60 days to enroll in new coverage. It is always best to get the enrollment done as soon as possible to ensure that your coverage will be continuous.

Updating your Health Insurance Marketplace information

Change in Income
If you have experienced a change in income for 2020, especially if your income has decreased, you can update your 2020 application on Healthcare.gov by reducing your estimated income. You will keep the same policy that you have now, but your monthly premium will be lower.

Request for Additional Information
One of the most common requests for MORE information is to verify income. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS REQUEST – especially if you previously uploaded income verification documents. The consequence of not providing the information is that you can lose your Premium Tax Credit and be billed the full price for your health insurance premium.
Your ComPro agent is available to answer your questions and assist you in updating your Marketplace account.
