Perhaps your plans for 2021 include some travel – even venturing out of the country! We ALWAYS recommend that you add a travel insurance plan for your international trip. We have lots of testimonies of people that have fallen ill or had an accident while traveling abroad. It is NEVER expected, but certainly can happen. Travel insurance is not expensive and gives you an extra layer of medical benefits as well as coverage for costs that you may not have considered. An illness or injury could prevent you from taking a scheduled flight and you must rebook it. That could be expensive. What about an emergency evacuation? It is covered by travel insurance. Original Medicare does not offer coverage beyond the US borders. Your Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan may provide limited benefits when traveling abroad. It’s also important to know that not all travel insurance is created equal. If you are planning to travel, it would be in your best interest to give our ComPro Team a call so we can choose a plan that best fits the coverage needed for your trip. The good news, this is a very simple process to do!
BEWARE OF MEDICARE SCAMS
Are you continuing to see or receive advertising about “getting all of the Medicare benefits that you are entitled to”? Some of the mail is designed to look very official; like it is being sent to you by Medicare rather than an insurance company. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have. Keep in mind that there are limited times of the year when you can enroll or change Medicare plans, regardless of what the advertising may infer. Your ComPro agent reviews your coverage each year to determine which plans are the best fit for you based on the plans that are available in Nebraska. You may want to make a change this fall and try something different in 2022. The Annual Enrollment Period is October 15th to December 7th.
FAQ: DOES MEDICARE PROVIDE BENEFITS FOR DENTAL & VISION?
Original Medicare: With Original Medicare, a medical condition of the eye such as glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration would be covered. But normal vision changes would not be covered. Dental benefits are not provided by Original Medicare. If you have a Medicare Supplement, you can insure these benefits with a dental / vision insurance plan or you can pay for them as an out-of-pocket expense. Dental plans range from $30 – $50 per month for most people. Vision plans are $10 – $25.
Medicare Advantage Plan: If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, vision and dental benefits are included with your policy. There is a limited amount of expense that the plan will pay, and you may be required to use an in-network provider to receive the best coverage. Dental benefits range from $500 – $1500 per year. Vision benefits provide a free vision exam and $100 – $300 toward the cost of eyewear.
