Here are some important tips to keep in mind regarding your 2023 health plan.
Set up payment method with your insurance carrier: Each company offers options that include an automatic deduction from your bank account, credit card, or direct bill. Premiums are due on the first of the month. If not paid month’s end, your policy can be cancelled for non-payment. Automatic payments are a good way to make sure premium payments are made on time.
Create a member portal with your insurance carrier: The easiest and fastest way to set up payment options and to access information about your benefits and claims is to use the online portal that insurance carriers offer to their members. You’ll receive directions about setting it up with your new policy information. Or, give ComPro a call and we’ll walk you through this.
Update on Bright Healthcare: Bright Healthcare has withdrawn from the Individual Health Insurance market and is not offering coverage in 2023. Individuals enrolled in a Bright Healthcare plan were “auto-assigned” to a policy with a different insurance company (if they had not already switch to a new insurance company for 2023). The purpose of the auto-assignment was to be certain that all policy holders had coverage in 2023. However, you can still switch to a different policy if the auto-assigned one is not a good fit for you. The deadline for selecting a new policy is January 15, 2023. If you want to make a change to your policy, just call ComPro to set up an appointment with one of our agents.
Know which doctors and hospitals are part of your plan: Health plans are part of provider networks that generally follow hospital systems. Many plans offered in Nebraska are part of a network that includes (1) UNMC, the Methodist Hospital system in Omaha, and the Bryan Hospital system in Lincoln; OR (2) Creighton and the CHI Hospital systems in Omaha, Lincoln, and throughout the state. Independent hospitals are also included in many of these networks. It’s important to know which doctors and hospitals are part of your health plan for 2023 as you seek care for your health.
Get insurance to cover you when you travel: You may be out-of-network for your health insurance plan when you travel. Emergency and Telehealth services are always covered when you travel within the US. Urgent Care may also be covered. Be certain to know what you should do to avoid any surprise bills if you need healthcare services while you travel.
Be rewarded for choosing a healthy lifestyle! Check out the Rewards Program that your plan offers for 2023. You can earn credit for setting up your account, staying active, having a wellness checkup and more.
