Each year, Medicare Part D requires employers to disclose to individuals who are eligible for Medicare AND enrolled on the group health plan whether the health plan’s prescription drug coverage is creditable. If you have individuals who fall in this category you will need to contact your broker to determine whether the health plans’ prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable.
Plan sponsors must provide the annual disclosure notice to Medicare-eligible individuals before Oct. 15, 2022—the start date of the annual enrollment period for Medicare Part D. CMS has provided model disclosure notices for employers to use.
This notice is important because Medicare beneficiaries who are not covered by creditable prescription drug coverage and do not enroll in Medicare Part D when first eligible will likely pay higher premiums if they enroll at a later date. Although there are no specific penalties associated with this notice requirement, failing to provide the notice may be detrimental to employees.
WHAT IS DIRECT PRIMARY CARE?
Direct Primary Care aims to enhance the doctor/patient relationship by providing personalized care paired with accessibility and convenience. Patients have direct access to their doctor allowing them to seek care when and how it best suits their needs. Services like lab work, imaging, and even medications can be heavily discounted by obtaining them through a DPC doctor.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a fairly new healthcare model where patients pay the doctor a recurring monthly fee, usually $50-$75/month, and get benefits such as unlimited office and telehealth visits, same-day appointments, and frequently, text messages with their doctor day and night.
It is important to note that DPC is not health insurance or a substitute for it. You will want to also have a major medical health insurance policy to ensure that you are covered if such treatment becomes necessary.
WE LOVE SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
Not once, but twice our team had the opportunity to serve the Matt Talbot Kitchen. We served lunch meals at their kitchen over the summer and gathered donations for Huskers for the Homeless this fall.
